Multi-site studies without moving data

Answer a question that one institution's data can't, with federated analysis across sites. Patient-level records stay with each data holder.

How it works

1. Set up a federated project with the participating sites. Access to each site's data runs through a contract agreement between data connectors.

2. Define the cohort and the dataset once. Each site builds them on its own records.

3. Run the analysis. Each site computes on its own data, applies its own minimum-count floors and returns aggregate results only. You see the combined result, which matches a pooled analysis, next to each site's aggregates.

Federated methods

  • Logistic regression
  • Cox proportional hazards
  • Kaplan-Meier
  • Log-rank test
  • Chi-square test
  • Two-sample t-test
  • Summary tables (Table 1)

Where it is used

The International Health Data Space Initiative (IHDSI), launched in July 2025 and led by the Luxembourg Institute of Health and the National Cancer Center Korea, names COMPASS as its cloud-based, privacy-preserving analytics platform. Cipherome contributes the federated data connector. Read the announcement.
